Shekita is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who has worked in Pediatrics for 7 years in the metro Atlanta area. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Tuskegee University. She also obtained her Masters degree in Nursing and Doctorate of Nurse Practice from the University of South Alabama. Her DNP project focused on Parental Health Literacy in relation to Childhood and Adolescent Asthma, which helped to provide picture based asthma action plans and easy to read materials on asthma symptom control for parents and children to better understand.
For over 4 years she worked at Children's HealthCare of Atlanta Hughes Spalding within the Emergency Department where she diagnosed, managed and treated numerous urgent and acute illnesses within the pediatric population. She has been a part of the PPOG family for 2 years and loves treating her patients and interacting with families in the 5PM Conyers evening clinic! She enjoys treating children with acute illnesses and helping to solve complex medical illnesses and collaborating with specialty providers for complete patient centered care.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, working out, dancing, festivals and spending time with her husband, family and friends!
